Thank You Dr. J Patel, MD of Laguna Niguel! He has helped me through this challenging time. With his knowledge of nutrition, Internal Medicine, and use of Vitamins and Supplements he has been my accountability advisor every week, until I got to my goal weight.
My Turning Point:
In June of 2002, Dr. Patel removed a small, malignant cancer on my face. Even though it was small and treatable, I realized that I was not infallible to disease! It turned out my Cholesterol was high at 215, and my triglyceride were off the chart at 337! I was setting myself up for severe problems in the near future! Dr. Patel had the perfect, NATURAL answer for me, "I can help you lose weight".
11 months later, my Cholesterol is down 190; my triglyceride is at a healthy level of 76; my hormones have stabilized, and I'm 75 pounds lighter! I have never felt this healthy before!

This is how I succeeded:
Once a week Dr.'s appointment for counseling, general medical care and assessment, heart and blood pressure checked, weight checked. Vitamins and Supplements, optional medicines reviewed that works for my body.
Journal keeping of foods eaten and exercise activities. Staying at 1500 calories, and 35 fat grams daily. (My OWN selection of foods that I like)! Exercising 6 or 7 days a week. Favorite exercise; water aerobics 2-3 days a week; walking at least 30 min. and up to 60 minutes, 4 days a week.
What now?
Continue same diet I created for myself, but add extra protein.
Continue exercise program but add weight and strength training for firming and toning. Try something new like a 10K race? For the first time in a recent 5K race, I finished 24th out of 56 women racing!
Check in with Dr. Patel 1 or 2 time a month.
Enjoy an active, healthy and hopefully a long life.
